Encore! Encore!

In the Fall of 1998 Nathan premiered in his own sitcom series from the producers of Frasier. The show was built around an Opera singer forced to return to his childhood home, and family, in Napa Valley, after a tragic surgical mistake abruptly ends his career. And who better than Nathan to sum up the success of the show?

"Thank you very much, uh, I love you too. As commitment phobic as I am, I love you too. You know acting, like begging in India, is a humbling but honorable profession. And I feel especially humbled and touched tonight that you have given me this vote of confidence, especially because it's from the people. And you're the only people that really matter, the audience. I entered into this television adventure thinking it would be a lot of fun, and it was. But as Paddy Chayefsky once said", television is democracy at its ugliest." And inspite of that, I wouldn't have traded it for the world working with the extraordinary Joan Plowright, and the brilliant Glenne Headly, Ernie Sabella, Trevor Fehrman, James Patrick Stuarrt, and Lauren Woodland and a terrific and supportive crew. I thank everyone at Grub Street all of our writers and producers. Especially Chuck Ranberg and Anne Flett-Giordano. Everyone at Paramount especially Gary Hart and I know that this show will always be seen as "a high profile disappointment" but because of all the terrific people involved and all of their hard, wonderful work, for me, personally, it will always be an unqualified success. Thank you all again. Watch It (6,276kB MPEG1)
