StageBefore gaining international recognition as Starina in the Birdcage or the voice of Timon in Disney's the Lion King, Nathan Lane was a hidden gem of the stage. Often referred to as "the Toast of Broadway" by David Letterman, Nathan honed his acting and singing in the works of Terrence McNally, Stephen Sondheim, Neil Simon and many more gifted playwrights. After several extended periods away from the stage, working in film and television, Nathan returned to the stage in Mel Brooks & Tim Meehan's musical re-imaging of the cult classic movie The Producers which went on to win a record 12 Tony awards and leave the theatre changed forever. Whether you're lucky enough to sit in a darkened theatre, watch a broadcast on television or listen to a recording you will quickly learn to understand why Nathan is "the Toast of Broadway." The following, in no particular order, is a list of performances that I have experienced along with some notes on how you might be able to experience them yourself. For a complete listing of works please visit the Nathan Lane page.
