Teacher's Pet (2004)Not to be confused with a possible remake of the Clark Gable & Doris Day comedy, Teacher's Pet is a full length animated feature of the Saturday morning Disney cartoon of the same name. Any fan of the cartoon will know exactly what to expect. The extra length of the feature film allows for additoinal plot twists and musical numbers not possible in the Saturday series. The accompanying soundtrack, while short, is worth every penny, especially if you have children. For those not familiar with the series, Nathan Lane supplies the voice for Spot, a dog, who yearns to be a real boy. Each episode centers around the mayhem ensuing from Spot trying to fill both roles as a pet dog and as a young boy (yes, he dresses like a boy and heads off to school with his master). In this big screen adventure Spot finally gets his chance to be a real boy, a la Pinochio. The art alone, inspired by Gary Baseman is worth picking up this gem. If you don't want to pay full price you can pick up a previously viewed DVD at your local rental store (as of 9/05). Nathan Fan Rating: A (Movie) / A- (Soundtrack) |
